Explore Hoenn, capture over 350 species, and battle Team Magma in this monster-catching RPG.

Pokémon Ruby was first released in Japan on November 21, 2002 for the Game Boy Advance, making 2002 the earliest worldwide commercial release year for this exact game version on this platform. It is also the original release of the game on any platform.

About Pokemon Ruby

Pokemon Ruby for the Game Boy Advance presents a new trainer beginning a journey in the Hoenn region from Littleroot Town. The player receives a starter Pokemon from Professor Birch, selecting from Treecko, Torchic, or Mudkip, each representing a distinct elemental type.

The adventure involves exploring this region, which features eight gyms to challenge. A key addition to combat is the two on two battle system, which introduces new tactical considerations. The game expands the roster with over 350 creatures to encounter and record in a new Pokedex, alongside various new items.

A primary narrative conflict involves opposing Team Magma, an organization with a plan to awaken the legendary Groudon by flooding the world. The player's objective is to thwart this scheme while progressing toward the goal of becoming a Pokemon Master.
