About Gem Smashers

Gem Smashers is an action puzzle game for the Game Boy Advance. The player controls one of three escaped prehistoric creatures, Bau, Bam, or Bom, to rescue others captured by an alien scientist.

Gameplay unfolds on single-screen levels filled with colored gems. The controlled creature bounces around, and its objective is to destroy all gems. This is complicated by a core rule: the creature can only smash gems matching its current color. To change color, the player must often first break rocks to reveal special color-changing blocks. The presence of deadly skull-marked blocks adds a challenging element of avoidance.

Completion of a level, achieved by destroying every gem, opens an exit to the next. The story mode offers over 100 levels accessed via a world map, allowing non-linear progression within sections before culminating in boss fights. The starting map section varies based on the chosen creature. A separate arcade mode presents more than 60 levels in a fair, linear sequence.

Additional features include a two-player battle mode requiring a link cable and three special modes that are unlocked during play.
