About World Cup Rescue

World Cup Rescue was one of those games you'd find in the later days of Flash, a simple sports-themed adventure that showed up on gaming portals. It came out in 2010, a time when browser games were a common way to pass a few minutes. You picked a star player, like Messi or Ronaldo, and the premise was straightforward: someone had taken the trophy, and you had to get it back.

You control your chosen footballer through a series of obstacle courses. The main objective is to reach the end of each level, avoiding hazards and collecting soccer balls along the way. Moment to moment, you're mostly jumping over gaps and dodging moving obstacles, using just the mouse to guide your player's run and leap. The mechanics are basic platforming with a sports skin; the balls you collect seem to act as a score or a requirement to finish. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty comes from timing your movements precisely to avoid falling or getting hit. It feels like a light, slightly janky challenge where a single mistimed click can send you back to the start.
