You control Jerry, moving him left and right with the arrow keys and jumping over gaps or onto platforms. The main goal is to collect pieces of cheese scattered across each level while avoiding Tom, who patrols the area. If Tom touches you, you lose a life. The levels are fairly short, but they get trickier as you go, introducing moving platforms and tighter spaces to navigate. It has that classic chase feel where you're always glancing around for the cat. The game moves at a brisk pace, and losing all your lives can happen quickly if you're not careful. Playing it feels like a straightforward, sometimes frantic scramble from one piece of cheese to the next.
