About The Red Barron 1918

You control a biplane from a top-down perspective. Your main task is to take off from a grass airfield, patrol the area, and shoot down enemy planes. Mouse movement directs your flight, requiring constant adjustment to keep your altitude stable and avoid crashing. A small map in the corner shows your position relative to the base; straying too far brings consequences. You aim using a simple telescopic sight and fire with a mouse click, but must pause to let your guns cool. When your plane sustains damage, indicated by instruments on the screen, you must land carefully on the field to initiate repairs. The pacing is insistent, with little room for error during landings or dogfights. It feels like managing a fragile, noisy machine more than engaging in heroic combat.
