About Submachine 5: The Root

Submachine 5: The Root came out during the Flash era, a time when many point-and-click adventures were played directly in a web browser. It was developed by Mateusz Skutnik. The game continues the series' exploration of a strange, abandoned network of structures and machines.

You control a silent protagonist navigating a series of interconnected, industrial rooms. Your main goal is to solve puzzles to progress deeper into the complex, essentially trying to find a way out. Moment to moment, you click to move and to examine or collect items like keys, tools, and notes. You combine these objects in your inventory and operate various devices and terminals to unlock new areas. The puzzles require careful observation and logical thinking, with a steady, deliberate pace. The game feels isolating and methodical, pulling you into its quiet, mechanical world.
