You control either Ryu or Ken, moving them left and right with the arrow keys and attacking with mouse clicks. The objective is straightforward: defeat a series of opponents one by one to climb the ranks. You have a basic punch and kick, and you can execute special moves like the Hadouken fireball by inputting a forward, down, forward motion combined with an attack. The pacing is fast, with matches that are over quickly if you're not careful. The difficulty can spike, especially against later opponents who block and counter more effectively. It feels like a condensed test of timing and spacing, where a single mistake can cost you the round.
