About SpongeBob Basketball

SpongeBob Basketball was one of those simple Flash games you'd find on a fan site in the early 2000s. It came out around 2003, I think, and it was just a quick way to pass a few minutes between other things online. The game didn't try to be anything more than a straightforward shooting contest, which was pretty typical for the time.

You control SpongeBob, standing on a platform with a basketball hoop in front of you. The main goal is to score as many baskets as you can before the timer runs out. You press the spacebar to start a power meter, then press it again to set the shot's strength. A targeting cross appears on screen, and you use the arrow keys to adjust your aim before the ball is released. The timing feels a bit loose, so shots often bounce off the rim in unpredictable ways. It's not a difficult game, but making consecutive shots requires a steady rhythm. The whole experience feels like a minor, slightly janky distraction.
