About Skywire

Skywire was one of those games you'd find in the late 2000s, tucked away on a Flash portal between more elaborate titles. It didn't have a complicated story or fancy graphics. It was just a simple, clever idea executed well, the kind of thing that could kill ten minutes between classes or during a slow afternoon. I don't recall who made it, but it felt right at home in that era of quick, browser-based experiments.

You control a small, square platform that slides along a single, twisting wire suspended in a blue sky. Your only job is to catch the tiny, helpless passengers that fall from the top of the screen and deliver them safely to the end of the line. The controls are just left and right arrows, but the wire is full of sharp bends and sudden drops. You have to manage your speed carefully, slowing before corners to keep your fragile cargo from tumbling off the edge. The main challenge comes from the toys, little helicopters and planes that fly erratically across the screen. Hitting one sends your passengers flying. The game starts calmly, but the wire gets more contorted and the toys more numerous as you progress. It feels like a tense balancing act, a constant fight between momentum and control to see how many you can save before a mistake empties your platform.
