About Planet Racer

Planet Racer was one of those games you'd find in the later days of Flash, a straightforward racing title that didn't try to be anything more. It came out in 2008, developed by a studio called Neko. You started with a basic hoverbike and a simple goal: earn enough credits from races to buy better parts and eventually become the top-ranked pilot in the system.

You control a single rider on a hovering speeder. During a race, you hold the up arrow to accelerate and use the left and right arrows to lean into turns, which feels more like guiding a sled than steering a car. The spacebar activates an afterburner for a short speed boost, a crucial tool for overtaking opponents on the long, winding tracks. The main objective is to finish in the top three to earn prize money, which you then spend between events on upgrades for your engine, handling, and boost capacity. The races are fast, and the AI competitors are aggressive, making consistent podium finishes a real challenge. It feels like a constant push to refine your lines and manage your boost fuel, a tense but satisfying cycle of risk and reward.
