About Operation Guatemala
Operation Guatemala was one of those straightforward action games you'd find during the Flash era. It didn't try to be anything more than a quick, focused experience you could play in a browser. The premise was simple: you were a special operative sent to dismantle a drug cartel. The mission had to be handled discreetly, avoiding any major diplomatic fallout.
You control a lone soldier from an overhead view, moving through dense jungle and enemy compounds. Your main goal is to eliminate all hostile forces in each area to progress. You aim and shoot with the mouse, which gives the shooting a direct feel, and you use the keyboard for movement. The game often throws groups of enemies at you, requiring you to use cover like trees and buildings to survive. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty comes from being outnumbered and having limited health. It feels like a tense, methodical sweep through hostile territory.
