About Oblivion
Oblivion was a Flash game from the mid 2000s. It appeared on sites like Newgrounds, a time when simple, atmospheric browser games were common. You played in near total darkness, with only a narrow beam of light to see by.
You control a lone figure, moving through a series of dark rooms. Your mouse aims a flashlight and a weapon. The moment to moment play is about listening. You hear enemies before you see them, their footsteps or growls giving away their position in the blackness. You swing your light toward the sound, revealing a creature, and then fire. The main objective is simply to survive each room, clearing it of all hostile shadows before moving to the next. The mechanics are straightforward: light management, audio cues for targeting, and quick reflexes for shooting. The pacing is tense and deliberate; rushing gets you killed. It feels like a cautious, nervous exploration of a space you were never meant to see.
