About Nitro Rush
Nitro Rush was one of those games you'd find buried in a Flash portal in the late 2000s. It didn't have a big studio name attached, just a straightforward premise: you were a driver trying to work your way up through a series of street races. The whole thing felt like a product of its time, a simple racing challenge you could load in a browser between classes or during a slow afternoon.
You control a car from a top-down perspective, weaving through traffic on narrow city streets. The main objective is to pass a certain number of rival cars before the timer runs out. You use the arrow keys to accelerate, brake, and change lanes, while the spacebar activates a temporary nitro boost for a burst of speed. The traffic is relentless, and the courses are tight, forcing you to make quick decisions. It starts deceptively simple but gets faster and more crowded, demanding precise timing to slip between trucks and sedans without crashing. The game feels like a constant, tense game of chicken against oncoming cars.
