Mermaid Rescue

You control a diver tasked with protecting a mermaid. The moment-to-moment play involves moving around the screen with the arrow keys, using the spacebar to attack the various sea creatures that swim in from all sides. Your main objective is to eliminate every enemy that approaches before they can reach and harm the mermaid in the center. The pacing is constant, with creatures arriving in steady waves, and the difficulty comes from managing attacks from multiple directions at once. It feels like a frantic, circular guard duty set underwater.
