Hip Hop Angel

Hip Hop Angel was one of those games you'd find on a Flash portal in the mid 2000s. It fit right in with the simple, stylish dress-up games that were popular then. You didn't need to download anything; you just clicked and started playing.

You control a character, a girl, who is getting ready to meet someone. Your main objective is to choose her outfit. You click through categories of clothing, mixing tops, bottoms, and accessories from a collection of urban streetwear. The interaction is entirely mouse driven, dragging items onto the figure or selecting them from a menu. The pacing is relaxed, with no timer or score, letting you try different combinations. The game feels like quietly putting together a look for a specific, hopeful moment.
