About Hammer Online
Hammer Online was one of those games you'd find in the later days of Flash. It appeared when browser gaming was a quick escape, a simple arena where you could jump in for a few minutes between other tasks. The game didn't have a complicated premise, and that was part of its straightforward appeal.
You control a character in a small, side-view arena, armed with a hammer. Your goal is to smash the ice creatures that spawn, but you're not alone. Another player, controlled either by the computer or a friend on the same keyboard, is doing the same thing. You move with the arrow keys and swing your hammer with the spacebar. The moment-to-moment play is a scramble to hit more targets than your opponent, while also trying to avoid their swings. The pacing is fast and a little frantic, with creatures appearing quickly and both players often getting in each other's way. It feels like a chaotic, lighthearted competition where a single well-timed hit can make the difference.
