About Dread Rocks
Dread Rocks came out during the Flash era, a time when you could find a new game to try in your browser almost every day. It was a straightforward title, the kind you'd click on without much expectation, just to see what it was about. The premise was simple: you were a climber, and something was waiting inside a volcano.
You control the climber directly with your mouse, guiding each hand to the next grip on the rock face. The goal is to ascend the volcanic cliff to discover what's hidden at the summit. The mechanics involve careful timing as you click to grab holds, manage a stamina meter that depletes with each move, and avoid falling rocks that tumble down the slope. The pace is deliberate, even tense, because a missed click or a lapse in attention means a long fall back to the bottom. It feels like a patient, precarious puzzle where every move has to be considered.
