About Baseball Team
Baseball Team was one of those games you'd find in the later days of the Flash era, a simple take on the sport that didn't try to do too much. It came out in 2008, a straightforward project from a developer known for accessible sports titles. The presentation was clean, with a bright infield and chunky, readable players, all running in a browser window.
You control the entire team, switching between batting and fielding each inning. At the plate, you watch the pitcher's windup and click one of nine zones in the strike zone to swing, trying to match the pitch's location. On defense, you manage the pitcher's power meter for each throw and then click bases on a small map to attempt outs on runners. The main goal is to outscore the computer over nine innings, which involves strategic steals and quick defensive throws. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, with a difficulty that creeps up as the game goes on. It feels like a thoughtful, slightly slow puzzle dressed in a baseball uniform.
