About Anchorball
Anchorball was one of those simple, clever games that felt typical of the Flash era. You'd find it on a gaming portal, load it in a browser, and be playing within seconds. It didn't need a complicated setup or a long tutorial.
You control a small ship at the bottom of the screen. Using the arrow keys, you move left and right to position yourself under a bouncing ball. The core action is swinging your ship's anchor upward with a key press, hitting the ball to keep it aloft. Your main objective is to prevent the ball from touching the ground for as long as possible. The game introduces obstacles, like blocks that break when the ball hits them, which adds a layer of strategy to your swings. The pacing starts slow but steadily increases, demanding quicker reactions as the ball gains speed. It feels like a focused test of timing and spatial awareness, where a single mistimed swing ends your run.
