Tower Toppler

Review
Also known as
Castelian Kyorochan Land Nebulus キョロちゃんランド

This action-platformer challenges you to ascend rotating towers by jumping moving ledges and evading enemies.

Tower Toppler (Nebulus) was originally released in 1987 for Commodore 64, Atari ST, and other platforms. The DOS version was released in 1988 by Hewson Consultants.

About Tower Toppler

Tower Toppler is a game where the player controls a small green character tasked with destroying eight towers. These structures are poisoning the water of otherwise habitable planets, providing the motivation for the mission.

Gameplay involves navigating the exterior of each tower to reach its summit. The player must avoid or dispatch various enemies while ascending. Vertical progress is primarily made by timing jumps onto moving platforms.

A notable technical feature for its era was the visual presentation. To create a pseudo 3D effect, the tower rotates around the character, who remains centered on the screen.

Travel between the towers is handled in a separate submarine sequence. This segment plays as a side scrolling stage where items can be collected for bonus points.
