About Silpheed

Silpheed is a vertically scrolling shooter where the player controls a spacecraft. The perspective gives a pseudo three dimensional effect as the craft moves forward.

Gameplay involves destroying enemy targets to progress. The difficulty increases across the levels, making the experience challenging. Collecting points unlocks additional weapon systems, and power ups are found within the stages.

Its promotional strategy was notable for emphasizing the game's soundtrack, an early example of using music as a key feature.
