Nicky Boom

Nicky Boom is a DOS game where the player controls the title character on a quest to save his grandfather. The grandfather has been captured and enchanted by the sorceress Zoldrane, who seeks knowledge he protects. To succeed, Nicky must ultimately defeat Zoldrane and retrieve a curative elixir from her possession.

The journey involves navigating through levels where movement includes jumping and ducking. The forest setting is hostile, as its formerly peaceful inhabitants have been transformed into guards. Contact with these enemies reduces Nicky's energy, though they can be dispatched by throwing apple cores or jumping on them directly.

Progress is facilitated by collecting various items found in the environment. Gems, bombs, dynamite, and keys are among the objects used to interact with the world. These allow for actions like constructing bridges, accessing secret areas by breaking walls, operating teleporters, and climbing.

The game tracks performance through a scoring system, with high scores recorded. To manage progression across its levels, which can be challenging, the game provides passwords that let players restart from specific points they have previously reached.
