About Commander Keen 5: The Armageddon Machine

Commander Keen 5: The Armageddon Machine is a platform game, serving as the fifth main entry and the second part of the Goodbye, Galaxy series. The player controls the young protagonist Billy Blaze, who infiltrates the alien Shikadi vessel called the Omegamatic to stop their plan of galactic destruction.

Progress involves navigating a top-down map that functions as a level selector. From here, individual platforming stages are accessed. The primary goal across these stages is to either locate an exit or destroy specific machinery, with four protective machines needing elimination before the core can be reached.

Gameplay revolves around traversal and combat using a raygun to stun foes, alongside a pogo stick for enhanced jumping. Levels contain various robotic enemies and environmental hazards, contact with which results in losing a life. To aid the player, collectibles include ammunition, keycards for locked doors, score-boosting items, and Vitalin jars that can grant extra lives.
