This 1987 sports collection challenges you in six outdoor events, from footbag to surfing, for sponsor glory.

California Games was originally released in 1987 for the Commodore 64 and other platforms. The DOS version was released in 1988 by Epyx.

About California Games

California Games presents a collection of athletic events set in a sunny environment, evoking what could be considered a precursor to modern extreme sports competitions. Participants engage in activities including skateboarding, BMX, surfing, footbag, and flying disc, with some editions also featuring roller skating.

The game's structure involves competition across these varied events. In the surfing portion, a judging system provides scores, offering feedback on the player's performance. Certain platform releases, such as those for the Atari 2600 and Lynx, did not include the flying disc and roller skating events, while the Genesis version was missing only the flying disc event. An optional sponsorship selection element is present in some iterations of the game.
